Rocker Cover

Post by rio678 »

Hi everyone

I have just noticed that my moggy has not got a breather on the rocker cover and looks like a later type, is this going to cause problems, i have tried looking everywhere for one to buy with a breather but no joy :(

The crankcase breather should then go from the back of the engine (tappet chest cover) to either the carb/air filter or the mushroom thing on the inlet manifold, like I have on my Traveller.

But if the car is running fine and not using oil, you may be fine. (perhaps the oil filler cap is of the breathable type).
Cheers John - all comments IMHO

I never understood why they eliminated the rocker breather - it is very important to keep the internal pressures as low as possible - this really does help to eliminate leaks and oil burning. You could of course braze in a new breather - but I appreciate it's then not original.
