Theiving Brats

Post by dunketh »

A few months ago I lost both my front mirrors over the space of a few weeks.
This morning I come to the car and find someone's pinched the boot badges and broken the bonnet badge trying to pry it off!

I can only guess its kids being kids - however, I always thought it was the VW stuff that was collectible. Not flipping 'Morris' badges!

Swines. If I catch them I'll run them down without hesitation and wash the car off after.

Now I'm having ideas about not replacing the badges, removing the rear bumper and going for a 'smooth' look.
Every cloud eh?

That sucks :-( you cant win with unruly teenagers :-(
the VW thing was on account of a band called the beastie boys IIRC when one of them appeared in a video wearing a vw badge as a Mr T style Bling thing - it once a trend caused a lot of grief and damage for vw owners.
Hope that tony hawks hasnt got morris & the minors back together for a christmas no1 assault or we'll all be in trouble !

i had a vw caddy at the time of the badges getting knicked.i was sitting in the cab eating a bag of chips.it was getting dark and the parade of shops were quite busy.some kids came up to the car and one of them said ah a volkswagen and then got a screwdriver out of his pocket.he just touched the grill and i let the air horns off,you should have seen them scarper.that was quite funny for me but i wiuld have been well upset if they knicked the badge and dammaged the grill in the process.we should bring back the cane and national service, that way kids would have a bit more respect for other peoples propety.rant over.

Why not just wire the car up to the mains at night, turn it off in the morning and if they is anything sizzling around the car pop it in the bin.

there was a growing trend last year to nick car badges -then they get used by kids as bragging rights. I thought it had died down but it's probably just meandering around different regions of the country.
Still - I'd rather they nicked car badges than puched random strangers in the face to be recorded on phone videos.

The new government think tank said that kids should have a phone line that they can call to report grumpy people that try moving them on if they are hanging around in large groups. They also say you should smile and say good morning or hello to them and not to be intimidated.

I say move them on to outside the think tank members house, and let them say hello to them. Or say "please could you get owf the roof of my car if you don't minde please"

Oh well, the bonnet badge has been repaired thanks to some judicious bending and some superglue!

It was in three pieces where it had shattered when they tried to remove it.
Kids obviously didn't expect it to be bolted on.

They can keep the boot badges, they were rotten and pitted anyway.

I guess they'll grow out of it soon enough then they'll have the same problems with the next generation of kids pinching from them... and so the circle continues.
