Can anyone help me find out what my car make number would be

Hello all - I live in Perth Western Australia and have recently bought a 1955 split screen morris minor. Unfortunately it's missing the Nuffield Compliance plate and I wonder if it's possible to find out what the car make number and original colour would be.
I have worked out that it was imported as a full car to Australia and not manufactured here.
There are two smallish metal plates on the top passenger side of the firewall - Z16315 R67491 (or 0) and BMF 67336

Is there any way to find out what my car make number is - as a friend of mine has a few Nuffield plates that come from around where I got the car. Maybe one fits my ol boy......

There should be a body number stamped on the bulk head This is the number that should be on the plate (I think). Also see this very useful LINK

I had a look but can't find the body number - too much old engine bay paint. I will get some paint thinner and try again on the weekend. So the body number is the same as the car number on the compliance plate? Because then theoretically I know all the detail about my car...

The thin plates on the passenger side (at the top) are body production numbers and are NOT the chassis number. The stamped number on the bulkhead which you have been told about IS there. It consists of the numbers only not the prefix letters which would have been on the lines of
F =Morris Minor
Either 'A' =4 door or 'B' =2 Door
A code letter for the colour.
'2'= RHD export
Then a code number for the type of paint.

I know in my photo above you can't see the number, but here it is if you shine a torch at an low angle across it to highlight the details.



As Willie correctly says you will need to work out the rest of the number from your knowledge of the car. With regard to the engine number I don't know if it was stamped on the plate or if it said "see engine" as on the later cars.

These little details make the car look finished, I had my new plate engraved by a local engraver rather than stamping the number with number stamps and am very pleased with the result.
