What happened to Picky's project
Did I miss the completion of Picky's car? I would have brought it up earlier If I had internet access, but Practical performance car had an article on turbo charging a Rolls Royce where they used a turbo to blow through the original SU carbs. They got around upsetting the mixture by feeding boost pressure into the dashpot (i think) and boost pressure +3psi into the float chamber to stop the pressure forcing fuel back into the float chamber. This apparently fools the carb into behaving like theres no air being forced in.

I see, although the carbs used were twin SUs standard to the roller. So they must have engineered the solution to allow the use of standard carbs rrather than turbo items. I'm sure in this application the turbo carb would be too small. It does not say however, how they sealed the throttle spindles from leaking.
The chap who has engineered all this is a guy called Charlie Broomfield, whos just finished his 27litre meteor engined rover SD1. Apparentlyy this is a know good system as it was originally used and developed on a turbo'd mustang.
I just thought it might be of interest given that they were both attempting to force feed SU equipped motors.

hello people, long time no see.
it was a gap year project, but I ran out of time and money, I'm currently studying engineering at lancaster university, The project will be given some more time over the christmas holidays. It currently runs but very unreliable and the power output is so erratic that it is impossible to drive (it either stalls as you try and pull away or the rear wheels spin and you loose control) Im looking for a cheap metro turbo carb (yes I have finally given in bmc!) and a fuel pump from a fuel injection system (preferably a lucas 4fp)
Happy Minoring, hope to update you all soon,
