Handbrake Gaiter

Post by adam-wilden »

Hi,

Did moggies ever come with handbrake gaiters? Can't find any pictures.

I know it's a bit naff but I'd like one to try to make my interior look a bit tidier.

Can't find any on sale, unless mini ones could be adapted (such as the one here: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HANDBRAKE-GAITOR- ... dZViewItem ) but they look a bit too steeply angled for a moggy.

Has anyone else tried this at all?

Cheers - Adam.

Yep, put carpet back in over the tunnel and you are right - it does rise up either side of the handbrake mounting.

Just seems odd that there was never a gaiter. I know that the cars are old and I've been told that some of the basic features were actually "luxury add-ons" (e.g. a heater - which made me laugh so I hope it's true) but it's strange that my moggie came with thick carpets, & leather upholstery but not a simple thing like a handbrake gaiter (I'm fairly sure my old Austin had one, as did my Mini).

Was obviously a more utilitarian age - I'll leave it bare as the man intended.

Thanks for your responses - A.

The short answer is no but if you just want to make the grip more comfortable the Metro one fits.

Ripspeed also do an aftermarket gator with handbrake handle incuded. It completely covers the Moggy handbrake and hides all the greasy bits :D

Yank one off another car at the scrappy.
I used to have a leather one out of a metro on one of my old minis. Bit of glue and you're done.

lol.. on the robins and regals they couldn't even be bothered to fit all 4!

I use a mountainbike handlebar grip on my handrake lever.
