Funny you should say that. The amount of trousers and shirts i've ruined probably cost as much as the parts I fitted. I find overalls too hot and restrictive movement as well. So oldest pair of jeans to hand and denim shirt. OK so i'm a cowboy and it shows in my work as well
I do have a supply of disposable coveralls they use on the oil rigs. Very light, but when you walk outside if it's windy, they inflate, and you look like the Mitchelin man
I have a seperate section of clothes 'for garage use only'. These days this makes up more than half my clothing
Needless to say I sometimes get carried away doing a 'quick / clean' job in my clean clothes... which normally ends up in them getting filthy.
As for overalls - (Except in mid winter) I tend to avoid extra layers as I'm already well insulated.

I have a specific set of old clothes I use for dirty jobs. Usually jeans, a cotton T shirt, Doc Marten steel toe cap boots, and if it's cold either a wooly jumper or a fleece coat.
I avoid anything nylon or polyester as it tends to burn too easily when hit with sparks.

If it doesn't work, you're not hitting it with a big enough hammer.
In common with other Concours contestants I have a best pair of overall to take to shows, an ordinary pair and finally a old pair for really dirty jobs.
This message board is like a family - you can't choose the other members!! But remember engine oil is thicker than water.

Ah yes the Concours overalls, with the label removed just incase it sticks out of the collar
Not being a concours entrant I tend not to bother doing jobs unless they are really dirty

i ruined my favourite shorts(yeah pretty sad isnt it!!) whilst doing the carpets in my car. that really shoudlnt be a dirty job, but i had some sort of sticky tar stuff under the original carpets, yeah i sat in that...
I have some baggy jogging bottom type shorts - useful in Summer, and in Winter they can be used over jeans for a bit more warmth. Not the most flattering attire but coupled with the 2 jumpers, big woolly socks and the woolly hat it's a co-ordinated look

Don't know if this is too provocative... I just wear a pair of shorts, and no shirt! I find it's a lot easier to clean one pair of shorts and take a few baths than accumulate many "work" clothes as I used to...
Is rust infectious? My hands are turning red...
