Les it not true that celly hard to find it is still ready avilable now as its ever been.

Sorry if I upset you or offended you les. I can assure you I did not intend to. I thought I was helping you by informing you that celly paint it’s not hard to find. Having said that I am from up in Yorkshire and I noticed you are from the south. I suppose it might be hard to get celly down your parts.
I defiantly easy to get it up hear.
No offence taken, I have however had trouble getting paint from several outlets, and each has told me that it is being withdrawn with certain tints unavailable. However I managed to get some in the end!

Whats your thoughts on the Earlex HV5000 and the HV3900? do you think either or both are capable of giving good results on car finishing? I may go in tomorrow and have a closer look at them. One guy on another forum i'm in swears by them stating that a decent Earlex or Apollo system will more than match a £400-£500 compressor set up. I've been trying to compair the Earlex HV5000 against the Apollo Spray Master.....mmmmm
Okay, I phoned Earlex UK and had a long conversation with a guy about what system of theirs would suit car spray painting. He told me the one to go for is their HV5000 (RRP £175) it comes with a 2mm jet but they supply a 1.7mm jet kit and I think he said 1.5mm too. He was most helpful in fact he is emailing me the data sheets from a car magazine about tests that were carried out. Got me thinking now!!!!

I'm quite pleased with it. I spayed half a dozen fence panels with it using a 2.5mm fluid needle, just to get the feel of it, I then prayed the moggy using a 1mm fluid needle, paint and anti bloom mixed 1:1.
Like everything practice (and perfect weather!) makes perfect. I've not yet managed a finish that is orange peel free, easily sorted though with 2000 wet & dry and some G10.
Lofty, Nice photos. I bought the HV5000 today (well im waiting on it being delivered) I also got the 1.5mm kit. I telephone Earlex and asked them of which needle kit I should try and on their advice I took the 1.5mm. Maybe I should have also ordered the 1mm...

GK the 1.5 should do the job ok as you can adjust the paint flow, maybe even better, especially with the thicker primers.

Superb finish. If anyone doubts the ability of a good painter using HVLP then they need look no further than that boot repair. Excellent
I think I will have to invest in an Earlex. The more I hear about them the more I think this is the future for spraying. They sound like a better all round tool for the job.
I will hang on to my compressor and old school spaying tool kit even though the spray gun is just about dead. It will do for less important jobs. Im sure the modern stuff will prove itself.
