Care needed if bidding
Just some info on the auction for the pick-up on e bay
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... :IT&ih=011
From the images that I have seen it is a series V.....................yet it is sold as being a 1961 series III, chassis number confirms it as being a Van (not a pick-up) and it carries an Austin grille? A complete saloon interior is fiited so it certainly is not original and I have my doubts about the fact the vehicle is a 1961. I have requeste the body number so will kep you posted.
if anyone wants more advice e-mail e rather than PM

Noted I also advised Kevin back in Jan 2007 that I was not at all sure about the LCV and had my doubts and asked him to check a few things

I just avoided what I think was a scam
I bid on some 3/8 whit sockets I bid the opening price of £7.50
Next day I got an outbid email, but I ignored it as I didn't want to go any higher.
Today I won the item at £7.50
I presume that they were hoping I would up my bid. When I didn't the new bid was withdrawn of rejected so I won anyway!

Hi Russ we did follow things up on this pickup and came to the conclusion that the car was a ringer which is not unheard of for ex-farm vehicles, and nothing on the vehicle appears to match.Noted I also advised Kevin back in Jan 2007 that I was not at all sure about the LCV and had my doubts and asked him to check a few things
The seller is being vague to say the least as he did with the convertible in spite of me giving him the correct info about it.
By the way the pick up needs major chassis work and the side panels are a strange shape to say the least so its needs some serious work which the seller is aware of and has had some awful repair work done on it previously none of which is mentioned, so unless you have a bottomless pocket......................

Cheers

Sorry for being slow, but what is a 'Ringer'??

One that has had its ID switched..................in this case the pick-up is far later than the paper work says it is not a 1961

Thing is the chassis number is what is on the LCV...................only a check of the body number is what I can confirm the year. But all idications are it is not a 1961......................no real evidence YET, other than the trained eye!

And on the same note there is no way that this traveller is a 1957! It has all the late features (note the large air intake hose through the bulkhead that wasn't introduced till about 1964 for a start and the wipers aren't the "clap hands" type. Not the sort of things that would be updated on an early car!)

this is the reply i got from the seller of the pick up
I`ve no idea Dennis. How can i tell?
I`ve just gone by the V5 which states it is a grey(green now) Morris Pick-Up registerd on 10/08 61 as confirmed by the DVLA with that no plate.
I`ve beeen told rear wheel arches have been replaced and poss much else over the years.
What are pick-up chassis numbers...are they signified?
Rgds

Like the body shell... I'd guess its been used to transfer a registration off an older rougher car, and then left with the age related plate.aupickup wrote:the seller of the white traveller has added to the descripption saying some body parts have been replaced by later boddy parts

cheers
