Exhaust
I am think about what exhaust to run on my pick-up rebuild. I have an 1.5inch Ital manifold with a S/S 1.5 inch down pipe (MMC Brum), water inlet with HIF 44.
Now that brings me down to the floor under passnger seat rear of the cab area. I intend to exit from teh passenger side in front of the rear wheel. My van does the same with a standard SS exhaust.
I have thought about a cherry bomb.................or a mini RC40, but would welcome any comments
Thanks Russ

Just an idea, but the standard 1.5 system I have is in three sections. Downpipe, front silencer and rear (that includes the bent section over the back axle. If the flared end pipe were cut off, maybe the whole rear pipe could be fitted back to front so the bent section exits at the side?
Older and more confused than I could ever imagine possible.

Do they still make cherry bombs? I had one on my AH sprite 30 years ago! And yes it failed it MOT for being too loud even then!
Talking of exhaust - What exactly is a dump valve and what do they do?

This message board is like a family - you can't choose the other members!! But remember engine oil is thicker than water.

Is that legal?RussLCV wrote:I intend to exit from teh passenger side in front of the rear wheel.
I was hoping to do this with my uber-custom pickup, however I vaugley remember reading somewhere that side-exhausts are no-longer allowed.

Re: Exhaust
That would make Cobras and many kit cars illegal. AFAIK the only restriction on side exit exhaust, is it must not protrude beyond the widest part of the vehicle body so causing a danger to other road users/pedestrians. The exit pipe must also angle down slightly to direct the fumes at the road.alainmoran wrote:Is that legal?RussLCV wrote:I intend to exit from teh passenger side in front of the rear wheel.

Sounds good to me, and will probably sound good to the whole streetalainmoran wrote:Whoop, that means Audrey can have the great big chromed exhausts (one on each side - its a V4 lump) that she really deserves

The only other legal requirement I can remember off hand, is the decibel level allowed, 94db at one metre i think.
