heated screens
hi people, tried a couple of parts places, and to no avail. but...as you are all the oracles in my eyes, i was wondering if anyone knew of a heated screen for a split screen? front or rear, or both, i don't mind if it's stick on, i just would quite like to know if it is possible to get one! thanks!

I just fitted on in my lunch hour - 2 hours ago!
Small world!!
I used a sticky kit. You have two vertical 'bars' which stick either side of the screen and the 'wires' which are affixed to a sticky backing.
Cut them to the length you want - stick them across between both vertical bars and then remove the backing paper. Easy peasy and far more attractive than them little square grid ones.
I got my 'kit' for £20 from the local car shop. You can also get them on ebay.
This is the one I bought - same seller too!

I can vouch for the quality and appearance of the final job though I've not actually used it in anger yet.

What would Macgyver do..?

ESM sell these for £16.95. I think this works out a little cheaper than the one on e-bay even when VAT & postage are added.

I have a heated front screen on the landrove that cost 175 a few years ago . Obviously worth every penny especially in summer. The same company does morris minor screens at about £100.callyspoy wrote:hi louise, yes i just went on the site, and then rang them to check that it was the same and it was so i bought it. so...heated screen soon! woo! how bad of an idea would it be to fit one to one side of my split screen? bar the fact i will have lines down the screen obviously! just a thought, as i care more about that then the front...
For series landrovers you can get each half of the split screen or 60 or so.. If you wanted change the drivers side only on your mog then it should be fine and probably bettter than doing both as it will only pull 5amps or so ..

Might be better investigating heater ducting and whatnot rather than doing this.how bad of an idea would it be to fit one to one side of my split screen?
I find my 1098 heater actually works pretty well for demisting even though you can barely feel the air coming out.
It only demists a semicircular area above each vent but its good enough to do the job.
I know the earlier Minor heater setup is different - if it even has one - but its something to at least consider.

i know that minor heaters are notorious as being poor, but the one in my 67 is amazing!its totally standard yet once warmed up and say on the motorway, you cant leave your hand below the vent where the fan switch is because its too hot, likewise my screen demists quickly.
was tempted to fit a heated element for the rear screen but its just not needed.
