What does this button do?

Post by al2006 »

Apologies if this is a dumb question, but I've only owned my car for 4 months :
I've just noticed a button sticking up out of the floor carpet, about 40cm forward of the gearstick, and to the top left of the clutch. What does it do?

I'm guessing its in front of where the gearbox plate cover/dipstick should be (this is covered in carpet too). The car is a '66 morris 1000.
Cheers.

It switches the headlights between dipped beam and main beam. The access hole for the gearbox oil filler plug is on the left hand side of the gearbox cover.

If it doesn't work, you're not hitting it with a big enough hammer.

Ah brilliant. I didn't realise there was a dipped beam and a main beam- I always thought the lights were always on or off.

I suppose you never know if you don't ask.
Thanks.

Funny. :-? That's the oil slick button on my car. The ejector seat is under a chrome cover in the centre dash next to the hub mounted tyre slashers.

Also make sure the tack dispenser is installed at the rear, nothing worse than stinging your own back tyres while running away from the bad guy on a bike. :D

Must be photoshop, combining the DC10 and the Minor, or just a person with a 'bull motif' :D

There's also another 'hidden' slide switch under the light toggle switch. If you feel under the light toggle you'll find it. If you haven't discovered it yet, it might take a while to figure out what it does :)

Turns instrument lighting on or off, I would imagine to conserve battery power in the days when leaving side lights on when parked was normal practice.
