Thanks. Actually they do sound very practical but I doubt I could wear one in public without being teased constantly.

What is the V - shaped pattern of 'studs' in the centre for?

Just decoration or is it there for a reason?

All the different styles they do have the rivets in the same place so I would guess they serve a useful purpose. Something to do with the way they fold the fabric to form the pleats?

Just wondering as my other half has been on about getting a Cornish kilt, but balked when I mentioned the pants thing. Muttered something about moving machinery (turbines & lathes in his case) - the Pot Noodle ad springs to mind.
