Brake pedal bronze bush

Has anyone changed this? Is it easy? I assume it is a push fit? I have quite a lot of side to side movement on the pedal.

Not done it - but I believe it can sometimes be a problem getting the shaft out - and the shaft as well as the bush is also likely to be worn.

The shaft is shared with the clutch pedal which actually is one piece clutch pedal/ shaft. Remove transmission tunnel cover and brake M/C cover, remove brake pedal return spring and the yoke/little bits that connect to m/c- remove split pin undo big pin. Undo the nut on the end of the shaft (goes through o/s chassis leg), then drift the shaft out to the gearbox side. You should now have a spacer and brake pedal sitting in the bottom of the chassis leg in front of master cylinder.

As BMCE said, you may very well find the pedal shaft is also worn. On My current project (Dibble), the pedal shaft was worn as were all 3 bronze bushes (one on each side of chassis leg, one in brake pedal), the bronze bushes can be drifted out with a hammer and drift.

Its not too bad a job if you have a big hammer and drift! lots of penetrating fluid helps. Its worth it for the smooth padal action afterwards.

Forgot to mention- to get the new bronze bushes in- squeeze in gently with vice for the brake pedal one, use a socket of the right size to gently drift the new bushes into the chassis legs. Lubricate the bushes (grease/or oil) then push fit the new clutch pedal+ shaft in, not forgetting the spacer and brake pedal. Do up the nut-its a BSF nut as are most on the body of the minor.
