Two post lift

Post by jgunson »

Anybody have any experience of lifting a traveller with a two post lift? Wondering where the best points to put the four arms are.

Should only ever lift it on the supension parts (spring plates) at the rear and the chassis legs at the front.

But if the chassis legs look anything like the one shown on the nearby 'bodywork' thread - keep clear!!

The rear spring front hanger is fitted under the seat box section therefore unless the car is rotten, this area is fine.
At the front, the front of the sill where it meets the inner wing and A-post should also be solid - however if the car has been plated over rot, this area may look ok but have no strength!! Therefore the chassis legs can be considered (but could also be weak). Basically if the car is rotten, then avoid a 2 post ramp at all costs :(

The car looks reasonable and has just passed its MOT so it should be OK :D

Oh so true Image

The car had passed an MOT a couple of days earlier, and had been "thoroughly" inspected and welded by a "specialist" a few days before that...
