Since I happen to have one sitting on the desk - no, it has five, and yes, two of those are for the horn.

Horn ?? It's the big button in the middle of the steering wheel! I am of course assuming nice original stalk with wee green light in the end!

And that's what I'm talking about - the horn has to gat a feed and an earth from somewhere, and right beneath it is the indicator arm assembly with the contacts on it...

Doubt there are any 'contacts ' - on my car the horn contacts are directly under the button - but perhaps the wires for that come with the stalk - need to have a rumble through my spares box - it's long time since i wrestled with this !

I just put on a new stalk - couldnt see any wire for the horn - the outer is the earth - then theres the insulated wiggly springy thingy (which is opposite to your earth)in the middle and it looks like that wire goes right through the center of the steering column to who knows where - not sure how it works actually, off to have a look because its been annoying me for days

Just been and looked – its quite clever – the steering column itself is the earthed connector - the other feed comes from the tube that the indy stalk is mounted on (so presumably pulls a live from the stalk assembly itself).
That whole tube is insulated inside from the column by some furry greasy stuff !

You're wrong. The contact to the contacts inside the button which enable the horn to turn with the wheel live on the arm assembly - no need to rummage unless you're very keen.

At the top of the pic, just above the arm.

AHH !!!! just remembered - theres a copper brush on the stalk assly that contacts a slip ring on the steering column just under where the underside of the wheel sits - thats got to be it.
