I thought I knew what i wanted in my 'dream garage' (mostly Minors obviously

).
Today I have been at the Goodwood Revival Meeting and seen twoo additions:
I had a ride in a US Army Jeep and now want one soooooooo much

Absolutely fab!
Also seen the coolest, chic'est French car ever. A DS, open top with 2.7 Maserati engine

saw a beautiful Topilino on Thursday at a classic car meet (Alcester)
The miniature little 4 pot 4 stroker was so cute - but even without that, the car itself was awesome.
It had been restored from a wreck including a lot of hand made parts - that kind of dedication deserves a lot of credit in my book

Anyway - that's yet another member of my dream garage, which is good as I'm working my way through the list fairly quickly

Ah, a willys Jeep then? I think the true Willis ones (they were made by various manufacturers, but Willis are the most desirable) go for up to ten thousand pounds if in good nick.

I saw, when on holiday in France, an abandoned Citroen SM, which was their official Maserati engined car. It didn't look too bad either, rather tempted to see if I could buy it but sense prevailed.

To be honest it could have been an SM - whatever one of those is. it just looked DS'ish

the SM was a Maserati engined DS I suppose. A strange amalgamation of manufacturers of different countries, but the again so was the Sunbeam Tiger, but at least they were owned by the same company?

Well i had to build one from scratch due to getting the trav - couple of winters outside would just do it in.
Very pleased to say got the door finished today - nice slidey job you can open and close with one finger - and its a heavy door.
Been a bit of a saga really as i was out of principle no way going to pay for the henderson roller hangers, so made them myself for the princely sum of less than a fiver and a few welding rods

Just the floor to concrete now and thats that.
Best thing having a door - no dusk invasions by chickens

Hmmm, I'd be happy with a garage too - Trav out braving the elements with leaky backdoors is not good!

To my knowledge the the SM came as standard as a Coupe .. (with the Maserati Engine) but there were open toped two door DS cars. What I do know is that Citroen put a Maserati engine into a DS coupe so it's very possible they put one into an open one as well.

There were other VERY VERY special SM's including a four door open version.

I have a book somewhere describing a drive down an unopened piece of autoroute in an origional Maserati-DS prototype. The driver was only aware he was doing 240KM/H because he started to get tunnel vision.

Could please note however that we all LOVE Citroens (I have owned 7 2cv's and three CX's) but none of us actually own one

What I do know is that Citroen put a Maserati engine into a DS coupe so it's very possible they put one into an open one as well

From what I can remember from the information card with it, the car started life as a 4 door saloon and was converted to a rag top using " enough metal to build a bridge across the Thames".
And you'd have too I would imagine as it was used to tow a substantial period caravan. It appeared to have a bulkhead behind the front seats with fold out tables, Pimms cabinet and/or some such like.
