Van box repairs

Post by jjcymru »

The van box on my GPO has rotten in the gutters and about 3" x 3/4" below one section.

I intend to gas weld a repair section to replace the rotten metal.

Where can i get hold of gutter repair sections?

does the scalp of the roof come apart at the gutter area?

Much info needed for morris newbie.

Many thanks

Jonathan

hi jjc,

http://www.fairmilerestorations.co.uk/

the van's roof is attached in a rather complex way: there's the roof panel, then an insert all the way round, then the walls of the cargo area. The internal and external gutters are formed by the way these three pieces of metal meet and are curved up and/or down. Repairs are not for the faint-hearted, but fairmile will be able to give you lots of advice.

Good luck! :D

ok you have 3 seperate panels here
the roof
the gutter
the side panel or cargo side

the roof is welded to the gutter and then this is welded to the flat on the top of the side panel.

the peice you can feel as you run your hand along the inside of the cargo bay is the gutter panel, this extends from the inside to the outside
