Odd...

Post by bigginger »

I'd say that this - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... :B:SS:UK:1
- is already at least £300 over what it's worth with 3 days to go. This partly cheers me up, since I own a wood backed pick-up too, but also makes me wonder what (apart from the long MOT) is making it so attractive. Can anyone see what it is that I'm missing?

They are appealing thats for sure. Could be the rarity/novelty value, maybe a couple of companies are after it for a promotional delivery vehicle or something like that?
More i read the listing the more I'm glad I cant afford it !!! Looks like a nice one.

I would advise caution on putting to much importance in certain prices obtained via ebay. Remember the starting handle and horn push, both of which went for over £50.00. Subsequent ones failed to reach anywhere near these prices.

it only takes two people to really want an item and the price goes sky high on ebay... I think some people feel offended of they are outbid, and must become the high bidder again regardless of cost.... mental!

If you look at that auction for the pickup bidders 8 9 and 10 have added about £350 to the price...

looks like an ok pickup (if you like that kind of thing) and reasonable-condition ones are rare i guess

or else the price is some sort of result of the ENORMOUS FONT SIZE USED

Theres no point in trying to figure the logic or patterns to ebay ... theres simply is no answer.
EG yesterday have a 'shop fodder' auction running - says on the listing buy this now in our ebay shop for 4.99 (yes in enormous font) - so what happens 2 people start bidding and it sells for 9.60 or thereabouts in teh last 5 minutes - crazy, funny but crazy.
Mind I did sell 1/2 a doz eggs once for £40 in an auction once which was maybe funnier
