I have a 1098 engine on a 'ribbed' box in my 60's clubmans race car. The gear lever is far too far back in the cockpit. So, my question is - can I fit an earlier A30 / minor 'magic wand' lever and associated casing to the rear of my box as this would move it to the right position?
If so, does anyone have one?
803 gear lever position on later box

There seem to be various threads indeed! and this has led to a wee bit of confusion on my part I'm afraid (almost as much as getting the forum search to work
)
To sumarise the other threads, am I correct in thinking that the 803 tailshaft and change assembly can be mounted on the ribbed box, but the bearing mountings have to be machined out to enable the stronger bearings needed to be fitted?
has anyone else carried this out successfully?
A concise voice of experience would be much appreciated before I start down the road.
I can imagine that in a minor it would be much simpler / cheaper/ easier to simply modify the floor to accept the later gear lever than get into all the engineering.
