As it is the 60th anniversary of the MM, it would be good to have a line up of minors from each year all lined up so that you could, say, walk down a line of travellers from 1948 to 1970 watching them evolve. Like time travel(ler). Could we find a car of each type from each year?

Well, I can account for the last 5 years of pick-ups - although some would have to be boxes of bits :D

A long way from an early Harewood National when I forgot the tent pegs for the old ridge tent and had to improvise with twigs, a nearby tree, and the towbar on the minor to keep it up. Now that was camping!
 Try putting up a ridge tent without using pegs or any nearby trees - because you're on soft sand as far as the eye can see and no trees either
We tied it to vehicles and used spare wheels to anchor the corners.  I knew that modern tents were more practical for the desert, but I'd not really thought through 'why'

Camping on Orkney was fine, and so was John O'Groats last year so camping in middle England is NOT beyond the whit of man IMHO.
Of course if anyone has a classic camper van, then fair play - and yes it is double standards to like them and not big new motorhomes ;-)
