Orkney,
oops -I've started rather a digression there!
back to the subject of tax categories - you could also try LRO forums for more info. I did read about a special tax category for farm vehicles that allowed a tax free land rover, as long as it was only used on the farm (within # miles of the farmhouse type rules). He took great pleasure in getting his free tax disk from the post office - I didn't want to mention that all us Minor owners take it for granted!
Cant believe I just got this for free !!!

Well i had a feeling that it was possible in theory to get it taxed as such - and if not would have been worth pursuing the point. Will definitely drop a line to the DVLA.
It begs the question then that if its classed as a tractor then it would be quite legitimate to run on red diesel.
You wouldn't be surprised how quiet the roads get up here when the customs & excise arrive doing spot checks - hardly see any diesel motors on the roads for a few days !

OMG I just killed it
Moved it down from field yesterday, dumped it up there as a bit of shelter for the lads tents. Fired it up to run for a while at the house few minutes ago as had put some injection cleaner in the fuel last week. Started it, gave it some revs and BANG not sure if its a piston or what come through the side of the block but its a darned big hole - water and oil too came out. Ah well easy come easy go
darned shame really, I'll just have to tow it nearer the sheep stables and use it to keep winter feed in i guess so either way its a cheap shed but heck of a waste, wont have time to get and put an engine in before winter and its not going in the garage

That's a shame. I was using the front bumper as a seat to watch the sunset from two nights ago... BTW the lever and bracket in the boot goes with the overdrive, but it looks like the end of the connecting rod is damaged.

If it doesn't work, you're not hitting it with a big enough hammer.
Cheers Alex - well if you know anyone who wants it ! Knew the engine was a bit goosed but not that bad - least i got it back here and it will serve a function, (as in keep hay in) will see about a suitable engine replacement on the grapevine, the dream of used chip fat for running about is far from dead.
Just know its going to peeve me lots the next few weeks, not far from where you were camped had a digger in and planed off 4" turf so need to get that cut and on the rest of the roof - will cost a fortune in petrol in the tonka up and down - put a tenners worth in last week just in case and Ray used that up on your safari trip
