Isnt it the one with the circular combustion chambers? The one thats prone to cracking between valves......
Ultimate rust cure for your moggy....paint it brown, at least that way you dont notice the rust as much!!

Eehh ?? AEG (there is no AFG - it's a mis-print in Wizard's book!) 163 is Cooper S head - certainly doesn't have 'round' chambers (none do as standard) - and only cracks if allowed to run extremely hot with no water in the engine !!!!!!That CAM 4810 head is the standard 998 Mini unleaded head - with small valves, same as 948 Minor engine head effectivley and inferior to 12G202 1098 engine head.

It would be fine on a standard 948 engine - unleaded too. But fairly serious power loss if used on a 1098. Of course - it CAN be modified up on the inlet side by boring out the ports and valve throats and fitting bigger inlet valves (may as well go to 1.25"), grinding out the cahmber shape to give good airflow and skimming by 80 thou. Then it would be great on a 1098, and of course still 'unleaded' on the exhaust side.
But - SO much easier (and far better performance) to just use a 12G 940 head from the 1275 engine - unleaded too if you can find a later one at a good price! All you have to do is sink the exhaust valves into the head by 40 thou - need to check there would still be enough 'seat' left if doing this on an unleaded head with inserts - I have only ever used leaded heads with no inserts.
