Non Mog: Ford Fiesta steering help needed Urgently

Post by d_harris »

Hoping someone might have experienced this and know the solution.

The fiesta has suddenly just developed "tight" spots whilst steering, (I would go so far as to say its dangerous right now!) I can't see any obvious reason why. I desperatly want to go to SADMOG tonight and I NEED to go to work tomorrow. Any Suggestions? Please??

I presume it isn't PAS - in which case it may be that the rack has run out of lube, however it could be a problem anywhere including the supension uprights :(
If it's PAS, and it's not leaking fluid then probably the pump - but I think you would have worked that out already.

Its not PAS, I've been doing some thought and I reckon its one of the multitude of UJs which connect the wheel to the rack has got slightly stiff. I've doused the whole thing in oil and hopefully that will lube it all up a bit overnight. If not then wheels off and have a good poke about

It is probablly the UJ at the bottom of the steering colloum, where it goes through the floor pan. Easy enongh to change and cheap to do.
