I've stopped flashing

Post by trenowin »

The pick-up has just been in for MOT and they changed the flasher unit,
the inside warning light on the end of the indicator switch now only flashes once but the indicators work OK.
Any ideas please.

I had that when my flasher unit was faulty. I changed it for a new one and the warning light started working again. Take it back to the garage and tell them they've broken it...

If it doesn't work, you're not hitting it with a big enough hammer.

This happens when there is insufficient current to trip the flasher. Usually this will be due to a bad earth in the indicator. Late type indicators often go rusty inside. If you clean it up and give it a good earth the light on the stem will start flashing again.

I've only had this when one of the indicators (on the wing) had a faulty earth.
However, it may be the flasher unit itself or the wiring/dodgy connection somewhere else

Thanks for all the advice, the problem is with the indicator switch I think, most of the time it seems to work OK all the indicators work externaly it's only the warning light on the switch that sometimes only flashes three or four times.
