Re: Pistons to rods

Post by m.hunter »

Does anyone know whether midget 1098 pistons fit onto a minor conrod?
I know the Crankshaft is slightly different but thats about it. They seem cheaper than Minor ones!

See my reply elsewhere. But short answer is YES !

Here it is

Crankshaft is the same - except for the last of the line which had the BIG main bearings (2") - if so - you are very much in luck as far as the crank is concerned ! The Spridget pistons should also just be slide fit - and be held in place with C circlips. But check with the suppliers - because I'm not completely sure if the last 1098 Spridget engines perhaps had Cooper S type conrods which would mean press fit gudgeon pins. I think it's v unlikely (and in any case you could change the con-rods if it was so) - but certainly worth double checking.
