fitting a stereo

right, now i know, that every month or so people probably ask this question, but after looking on the site, i can't see a question about it. so...could anyone please tell me where they have hooked up the live feeds to, so that it both looks tidy and works as it should. thanks people!

Callum,

Mine's tucked away underneath the passenger glove box (but above the parcel shelf)

Speakers in the trim panel - one each side just above the parcel shelf.

Just about not visible at a first glance (though the remote control is useful)

Mine's in the glove box. If you mean where to tap in to the electrics
then, presuming that you want the set to work with the engine off, take the feed from the Brown wire side of the fuse AS LONG AS THIS WILL GO THROUGH AN IN LINE FUSE ON THE STEREO. If there is no in line fuse then take the feed from the other side of the same fuse,i.e. the
Purple wires side. If you wish it to work only with the ignition on then take the feed from the other fuse. The White side if you have an in-line
fuse or the Green side if you haven't.

An idea that I used on mine is to wire the main feed to the ign side of things, via a 5A fuse. This means it not staying on when you leave the car on when you leave the car. For those times of wanting the stereo on with the ign off I fitted a switch to supply power separately. There is probably also another wire on your stereo that needs to be connected to a permament live feed so your station pre-programming, clock etc will keep working.

I tried that, but then I bought a radio that turns OFF when you press the off button.

It still has the ACC lead for an ignition switch that has the ACC tag.
There is such a switch available - one day I'll buy one and swap it in for the standard switch.
That may be essential if the radio you buy remains on (on mine the clock display and remote control are active at the first "off" position - more of a standby).
