How long for parts?

Post by jackkelleher »

I'm in England for a bit, helping a friend with a Morris over here. We wondered how long parts take to arrive from- say- ESM? I know in the US it takes a couple of weeks, but that's with the Atlantic...

Unfortunately there is a postal strike going on which may delay things - but you should normally get 'next day' delivery - certainly MOSS do that for me. Phone before 4pm with order and Postie is banging the door with the parts next morning at 8am !! generally - if you are willing to pay for next day courier service they will do it - even 'before 10am ' service. remember - many of th mechanical bits are in your local Autoparts place !
Where are you in England - there may be places nearby where you can just collect same day!

Devon, in tavistock... There is someone nearby, but he doesn't do too many parts. The car needs a dynamo, rotor arm, a few gaskets etc...

Almost all Mini stuff - so get them any autoparts place. Not often a dynamo needs changing - try new brushes first!

oh, it doesn't need replacing... It's quite simply not there! No dynamo, rotor arm, battery or starter. How much does a dynamo cost?

Presumably you can buy a good used one from someone on here who's swapped theirs for an alternator?

If it doesn't work, you're not hitting it with a big enough hammer.
