It's raining so silly idea time

Post by paulhumphries »

The new drums have come for my Minor this morning but it's pouring down so I don't feel like fitting them ready for taking to MOT.
I've my Jeep CJ5 project on eBay and whilst I'm hoping it will go to a new owner who can restore to former glory I've been thinking of ideas if it doesn't sell.
The chassis is mint so one idea is mount a Minor body on and build a 4x4 van or Traveller.
Looking for a drawing of a Jeep chassis to play with mocking up a Minor body on it I came across this version that I'd forgot about - a forward control Jeep.
http://jeepfc.www5.50megs.com/fc150/fc-150.htm
The chassis is basically the same although mine is a couple of inches longer wheelbase due to the fitment of straight 6 engine.
The silly idea then is how about a forward control Minor !
Anyone want to play with a photo manipulation program and come up with a body design / idea ?

Even sillier idea...
Pop down to glorious sunny dorset and help me fix up my 4 door!

If you've got really itching 'spanner fingers'.

Its so hot at the moment I daren't actually wash the car - the wax would dry rockhard before I had chance to wash it off. You could fry eggs on the roof!
What would Macgyver do..?

My Jeep didn't sell but I'm not bothered.
It's now the alternatives which I quite fancy - mounting a Minor body onto the mint chassis.
I wonder if a 1098 is a suitable replacement for the original 4.2 ltr
Only problem is identy is going to be that of the Jeep so not tax exempt :(

Are there any more pics about of this ?

My Jeep is quite short so standard Minor bodyshell should fit.

I'm thinking of Traveller front due to me needing 2 door sided doors for access due to my leg problem. Rear could either be Traveller, Domi van style or even standard van/ pick-up.
The Jeep axles are narrow so would fit without the need of flared arches on the Minor body.
Even the Jeep wheels don't look too different to Minor items and have lugs for hubcaps !.
At the moment I just wish it'd stop raining so I can do the jobs (new drums, change tyres and very small amount of welding) to just get my Minor MOT'd :(
