Grommets, Grommit!

Post by Peetee »

Albert is getting there.... but in order for him to get there I have to find out what the hole is (above the hole in the bulkhead for the main wiring loom). It's about the same size as a heater hose hole and the rubber grommet within has three identical holes in it.
Any ideas, cos I can't find a photo of a car with it?

hole

Post by Willie »

I have just checked my 57 convertible and there is no hole above the main loom grommet. The only hole near there is the top heater hose hole which is slightly higher but to the right.

There should be a metal trangulr plate over a rubber o ring to seal it.

You can just see it here.

Roger that is what I described as the 'main wiring loom hole'. There is another hole above it.

True enough, although I had every reason to believe this car was 'as built'.
Besides, its a very curious modification and suggests a lot of additional, deliberately divided wiring and there is no evidence of additional electrical componants anywhere else.
Maybe someone fitted some serious ICE

Just a thought. Does Albert have a central speedo or is he old enough to have one in front of the driver. And here I expose my ignorance, is it where the speedo cable goes?

Yes, it looks like a picture of a brand new engine bay from an old manual where they strip a brand new Minor for purposes of technical illustration.

If only it were that easy. I have changed PCs recently. One has the internet access the other has all the photo editing software.

Thanks Russel but I have no way of getting them on to my internet pc at the mo because the other pc is in pieces in the corner of the room waiting for a mate to get cracking and transfer the file info and software over.

I don't know if this is your trouble but I sometimes have problems with XP not recongising the picture so cann't load it from camera onto PC. Same applies to when right clicking on a web site and trying to save the page. It's something to do with download manager.
It's a XP glitch that searching shows other people have same trouble and even computer guru's cann't help me.
