Ive now stripped the mog of all its electrics, everything has been labelled etc, but a few bullet connectors came unplugged on removal. The fabric braiding around the main loom is looking very tatty, are new looms with correct wire colours etc available?
Has anyone got any tips for re-wiring the car, i.e. procedures etc.
thanks,
YG

Aye, looked pretty simple to me as well......no digital clocks, ECU etc etcbigginger wrote:New looms? Yup, try the Mog shopsAs for rewiring, AFAIK there's nothing special about it - it's the simplest loom I've ever worked on.

Hi, youngun like you say the outer braiding on the moggy wiring is usualy the only thing that needs to be renewed on the wiring if you are loucky
. When I stripped out the wiring on mine the braiding almost fell off. I just cleaned the wiring with a damp paraffin rag and tested it (metered) and then just recovered the loom with rubber tape followed by insulating tape and put on new bullet connectors ( I can hear the purists tutting out there now
) At least I know that the wiring is the right one for my car and I was able to add addition wiring to any new gadgets that I was going to fit.

Hello YG,
if you decide, as advised, to re-wrap it. There is only one tape that is easy to use and neat and that is called, loom tape, believe it or not. You still need to use insulating tape to finish the end of the wrap as loom tape is non adhesive. Try any specialist car electrical supplier such as Holden or British Wiring Products.
A wiring diagram which will give you the colours of the various wires so you know what area of the car they should end up in. It is really pretty easy on a MInor.
