radiator spare is bad!

Took delivery of a shiny new radiator from MGM... The drain plug hole is not there! Just not there! Blank metal! Do I have to drill it myself?

Here's a wild suggestion - Don't have a drain tap!

I know they're nice and everything, but the car will work without one.

Aye - just forget the drain - pull a hose off if you need to drain water. It's one less thing to go wrong!

Really? That's ok? I must admit I coudln't see its point, because the old one froze in place and I drained it through hoses like you said, but I thought there might be something essential about it!

The drain plug is too hard to reach anyways and its usually seized up pretty good. Taking a hose off is definetly easier.

same here bought a lovely brand new spare and it has no tap, but as other have said it siezed solid on my current fitted one so no great loss and quicker to remove the hose to drain

I had the opposite, got a new one to find they had drain taps! ESM radiators have them. Had to cover mine in grease to stop it seizing, handy for draining fluid into a bucket if you're working in the garage or you've just replaced the anti freeze.
