Small Ticking Rattle

Post by Kevin »

Only noticed this on the way to the National and on the way home.
It starts at 20 in 2nd, 30 in 3rd, and 40 in top so I assume it rev related allowing for the wiggly speedo but the sound is like a noisy tappet or possibly two it doesnt get any louder with speed just faster and the performance is as normal and nothing seems untoward apart from the noise I have checked the valve clearances and they are fine, any thoughts, its a 1275cc by the way.
Cheers

Blown exhaust manifold gasket can give a ticking rattle. Feel for a blow with the engine running in this gasket area.

Not the timing chain as it only does it when moving and the dizzy is a new one, well check the manifold tomorrow.
