I tried using causic soda in my rad but it all solidified into one hot mass at the bottom without it all dissolving. Providing you use gloves and goggles Caustic will shift most things , I think I used too much at one time.

You know the tablets you use to clean braces and dentures, that might work. Kim and Aggie use them to clean kettles on the televison. I rekon once you have used a hose leaving a fizzing tablet over night would work!

Its easier to use the products designed for the job rather than taking a gamble on a product designed for somethind else, look at Colins warning.

Back to the original topic (?)
Our house central heating system has Fernox corrosion inhibiter. If you can't store your radiator dry (inside), this might be a suitable solution.
Don't know what would happen if you used it instead of anti-freeze actually inside the cooling system.....

Is Fernox cheaper than antifreeze, and does it work at sub zero temperatures like antifreeze.
Cheers
