Hi,
I've just replaced my driver door hinges and now the door can't close! To fix this I need to move away the top hinge from the pillar by 2 mm.
What would be a good material to cut a shim to insert between the hinge and the pillar?

I would use two pieces of 1mm steel. use the hinge as a template. Cut with tinsnips, then drill the holes for the door hinge bolts. Paint both sides of shims to prevent rust.
Cheers John - all comments IMHO

I'm sure the spares people sell them in different thicknesses.
One of mine was done with washers behind each of the three bolts.
Boy was it fun watching them roll out and collect on the floor like pennies... getting them back in again whilst holding the door and the spanner in your 2nd and third hands caused even more merriment.

What would Macgyver do..?

Have you got the right kind of hinge? The earlier hinge is a different shape to the late one, and my poor abused minor has an early door hinge because the late-type one snapped... It needed a few mm of packing behind it to make the door shut
