Stationary Engine

I see from his siggy pic DaveC has one!

I've got one! Little Lister is next to get my attention now that Sophie Morris is more or less finished.

I have plans that involve an old trailer towed behind the Morris.

Anyone else got one?

Will they fit into a Morris with a bit of a squeeze? Thirty seconds to the great six-o is a little tiring...

What am I saying? It wouldn't be a Morris without the unique performance!

One day I'll get around to finishing off and building a boiler for that 90% complete Stuart 10V engine I started about 15 years ago...

I used to have a Petter that I measured up against an early Honda Goldwing ("naked" 4 cylinder / 1000cc type) rolling chassis and found it'd fit !
I recently sold my Austin Seven special project to a chap who works at the York railway museum. Besides his own personal full sized steam engine he'd got 40+ stationary engines. He reckoned that stationary engines are at a price low at present so now is the time to buy. I want a "hit and miss" but they can still demand higher prices though and out of my range

It's just a bare engine on a stand or truck. Typically used to power pumps and saws and things away from mains electricity.

It just sits and pollutes the atmosphere - and makes very annoying BANG -PHUT -PHUT - PHUT - PHUT - BANG etc noise.

Hi, I used to have a Lister D stationary engine. It was fun to restore and operate. I could never get the carb to work properly!
My latest project is a front headlight panel of a 1974 Alexander AL bodied Leyland Atlantean. I saved it from being thrown away. I plan to paint it up, refit the headlights, badge etc and integrate into my garden fence next to my patio area. The plan is to have the lights working as garden lighting when we have a BBQ on an evening. I have a big weatherproof junction box and a 230V to 24Vdc power supply which I'll mount behind the panel for the lights. I'll run a two core flex from each light to the box using waterproof glands.
The missus approves, but maybe my neighbours wont when I flash at them with my Atlantean bus front!

I rescued the rocker covers off an old Roll Royce diesel lorry engine a friends employer was cutting up for scrap .
With one side cut off and an alloy plate on the previously open side they made neat (small) window boxes for my shed - with RR logo still visible.

Well for one thing you can make John Major work for a change

poor lad turned this butter tub all day, much better on the camcorder but don't know how to edit that section

Best one I've seen..

Roger, Ive been a Stationary engine enthusiast for many years now, and have had many engines in my possesion over this time. From bog standard listers, to Armstrong-Siddeley factory prototype diesel engines! Now that I have the Jowett Javelin and mog in the shed though, they have all gone except for one, a 1929 Lister B!!

These things are like a plague where I live.
You can go to the local steam and vintage shows and see fields of Listers phutting away to themselves.
Fellas wheel-in old lawnmower lumps on trollies so they can blag free entry for the weekend.
