Carburettor identification

Hi Everyone!

On the Technical Tips page it says that a cause of power stuttering under acceleration can be caused by a lack of oil in the damper under a black cap on the carby. My 1958 Minor 1000's having that problem, and I've had a squiz at the carby and the manual, but can't identify a black cap. Does anyone know if this means the hexagonal lid thing sitting atop a golblet-shaped well thingy on the left-hand side of the carby? Sorry about the poor description - I know less than nothing about these things!

If so, do I remove that and then top the well up with just normal oil?

As I said in the other post about a teaspoon full of 3in1 oil, just unscrew the black cap and add it in there.

On early carbs it's a brass nut - not black plastic. This is unlikely to be the cause of your problem - but costs nothing to try it!
