main beam warning light
had the headlights and front wiring pulled out to do some paintwork put it all back into my splitty, now I find that the main beam warning light comes on when dipped and goes out on main beam,the floor mounted switch hasn't been touched,Anyone know where the warning light picks up current from on main beam so I can sort it cheers ken

The main and dip beams are probably connected the wrong way round so the dip filaments are coming on when the switch is in its high beam position.

My guess would be the same as above.
Switch the bullet connectors for high and low beam (by the inner wing) and that will correct it.

sorted it out Pulled off side light connector and beam indicator worked again.Cleand up side light connectors and now all fine. Just shows how bad connections in electrics can cause problems elswhere,Can't think how the side lights would effect the warning light.But there you go.had similar problems after a long lay up with the wipers,would work with the ignition off no go with it on.Had to eventually rewire from switch to motor to isolate the ignition. Think a new loom is going to be needed soon not looking forwards to that nearly as bad a putting headliner in me thinks. Had another look at the connection and saw that at some time a threeway connector had been fitted routing the side lights and one side of the headlights through the same block.Must have been tracking current accross to the warning light.
