windscreen fitting

i've bought the little tool for fitting the chrome strip.

i've seen somewhere a video of someone fitting a strip with it any ideas.

also whats best to put on the rubber to help with fitting the windscreen
and is there a sealant that can be used to help with weatherproofing it.

I think that a bit of washing up liquid helps things along.

I didn't know they did a tool for fitting the chrome strip. Can you enlighten me.

I gave up trying to put it in after about two hours of swearing. I decided to fit an old seal with a plastic strip which took me about 15 minutes from start to finish. I would like to change it for the original though as it looks much better.

and NEVER use washing up liquid
i done that on the trav i'd painted the bonnet about 3 weeks before hand and left a couplke of washing up stains on there and didn't realised just hosed it off.

it left white marks that didn't come off so i had to rub it all down and re-paint it.

i think i read somewhere use glass cleaner

I used white grease it worked very well, I also used it when fitting the plastic chrome insert.
Here is a usefull tip - cut your finger nails really close first - its less painfull than breaking them!!

The strip was very tight but with the correct tool it went in ok.

Well the paint must have still been rather soft to do that especially as you had rinsed it off.

Washing up liquid contains salt.

Which rots the window frame - don't use it!! Best tip I can offer is to do it on a really warm day - with the sun shining on the screen. It all works very much better when warm and pliable.
