Hot diff

Post by BBJ »

Hi
Had the Minor now for a couple of months and well pleased with it. Went for a good run this afternoon and when we got home I had a look underneath and noticed the diff casing was warm/hot to touch. It has oil in and I wondered if this is normal or am I in for problems? There are no untoward rumblings from it.

Normal enough - it works hard in there! Have a look at trucks etc when standing at m/way exit slip road in the wet - the diff will be 'steaming' away nicely!

Not had a real car for many years now, just panicking I guess!

You will get more used to the quirks as time goes by, and your sort of query is exactly what the message board is all about :D
