Sooner or later I'm going to have to start cuttin' an' weldin'. This being my first time, I'd like to know if a step by step guide or something similar is available for such tasks. Mainly sills, spring hangars and chassis rails. Or if not, is there a book that would help me along the way?
Thanks,
YG

Hi alec,
Luckily I've been welding on and off for about 3 years now, but this car will certainly test my skills!
Unfortunately the nearest library is 30 miles away, but ive checked their inventory and nothing as such on classic car restoration.
Anyone else know of any books?
thanks,
YG

The books Lee reccommends are not the ordinary manuals but the much better ones by a recognised restorer here are some examples of what to look out for

A good site for secondhand books is abebooksdotcom, I use it a lot, often you can get manuals a lot cheaper than they sell for on ebay, it's a portal site for book dealers and they don't usually ask silly money for that type of book. Compare the prices for a bit to make sure you are getting a good buy though. As with ebay just be sure to account for the postage fees as they can vary.
There's a copy of Morris Minor & 1000: Guide to Purchase & D.I.Y. Restoration
for 6.50 with a few oily fingermarks!
