ive got some wolfrace alloys that do not appear to have any paint or coating on them, they have all corroded/tarnished a bit. I have sanded them with fine sandpaper and they now look a lot smoother, but lightly scratched from the sandpaper all over. If I buy one of those big brass wire wheel things will that polish all the scratches out?

Use a finer grade of paper or wet and dry

You will need to use a polishing 'mop' with compound in a leccy drill.

ok just bought some 400 grade wet and dry, I also have a car bonnet polisher tool thing, its like a big soft pad that turns, for rubbing in polish into bodywork. going to see how the wet and dry works first though. ive notice the alloy wheels on my dads car (modern volvo) have actually been painted silver and with clear lacquer.

Not that kind of mop! A more solid flexible multilayer mop-head which is used with polishing compound, pretty sure FROST do em.

bmc......get a litre of Cellulose thinners and an old rag! That will get the coating off no trouble and cause no damage to the wheels.
