Oil light

Hi all, I have a question. Yesterday, a mechanic was doing a job on Naomi, and noticed that the oil light was disconnected. He connected it for me, but now the light is on all the time. What I'm wondering is:
has the mechanic made a mistake?
or do I have a problem with the oil pressure?
The car seems to be running fine and took me 100+ miles at the weekend with no trouble. Can anyone shed any light on this?

was it the oil pressure light? or the oil filter light....

the filter light is there on later cars but there is no sensor so 'connecting' it will probably just cause it to light all the time

Is this light 'on' when you first turn on the ignition - and never goes off, or does it only come 'on' when you start the engine ?

He said it is 'on all the time' but,as the car has done a 100 mile trip with no problems there must be oil pressure there. Check the colour of the wire which is connected to the oil pressure switch which is located just to the rear of the distributor, which should be Green/Yellow. If that is correct then I suggest you change the actual pressure switch as a first step as they fail quite often.

Yes, I think you have been. If he has the correct lead on the correct switch then it is the next logical step. We dont know if his leads are crossed or if it is connected to the filter warning switch. We know from his info that the oil light was not on before the mechanic connected the wire so that rules out the wire being short to chassis somewhere.
