Brake query...

Ive adjusted my front brakes (following the instructions in the handbook) - turned screw fully clockwise and back one click -- only thing was when turned fully cloickwise the wheel still spun - I thought this locked the shoes against the drum,,,?
Feels like this is something I should be worried aboiut this ...should I?
When I press the brake pedal the wheel does stop.
Benny has just passed his MOT - Any advice as to whats going on ?.

well there are of course 2 adjusters on the front brakes
fully clockwise will lock thebrake, back off one click and then do the other cylinder.
maybe the adjusters are at fault

or if the shoes have worn to their limit , not enough movement to lock the drum on the adjuster

Perhaps you have 7" brake snails on your 8" brakes there is a diference.

When you say "turned screw fully" did you mean screwS there are two - one on each shoe.

Perhaps the plate the adjuster sits in has worn out - this happened to me on the traveller - and then they rotate back when you let go.

err can't think of anything else.

Sometimes the snail cam can get caught on the baseplate - limiting it's rotation before it moves the shoes far enough. Mainly due to some wear on the shoes and the drum.. I seem to remember at one time filing a little bit off the snail to allow them to rotate fully.

I found mine doint this, they were just stiff and a clean up with some brake cleaner allowed them to adjust further.
