Brake pedal interfering with clutch pedal?

Post by dunketh »

Is this a common thing?
If I have my clutch down then depress the brake pedal it holds the clutch pedal down.
Similarly if I'm braking and push the clutch it seemingly rubs/jams against the brake pedal.

Ideas on a postcard please. I can get around it, provided I remember it happens.
What would Macgyver do..?

Sounds like the pedals are binding on the shaft, get some spray grease and remove the little plate covering the master cylinder and give the shaft a good squirting.

Start the spraying with proper release oil (not WD40) - once it's moving then add the grease.

Lesson, if you ever fit new pedals you should drill an 'oil hole in the bushes so that it is easy to inject, perferably EP 90 diff oil, periodically.

I have often wondered if it would be possible to drill a hole in end of shaft and then crossdrill to correspond with clutch shaft and also the shaft bearings. Then fit grease nipple in end , so that the whole lot can be greased from outside car.

Life's too short Ian ! Just a spray from time to time works wonders.
