Spraying the wheels whilst still on the car...........

Spraying.....

If I spray the wheels while they are still fitted to the car, should I spray the balancing weights too?......

Any other advices also gratefully received....

The only problem with that is you will not have rubbed down or de rusted
the areas under the balance weights. I always mark the weights position by drawing a pic of them in relation to the lettering on the tyre walls and then carefully lever them off. I refit them only when the new paint is set properly. ( I assume that you know that you can paint the tyre walls carefully with neat washing up liquid and then spray to your hearts content)? The walls just brush clean afterwards with lots of water.

Can you stick the balance weights on the inside rather than outside? It's what I do with alloys, not sure if possible with original wheels.

I had the weights put on the inside last week, but one of them has thown off already. I don't think they were very secure in the first place.

Is it not easier to find two old wheels and restore those, then keeping
them as spares for the time you have to change a tire? If the wheels are to bad you can replace the tires once and awhile.

The weights are where they are for a reason! the 'dynamic' balancing determines if the weights need to be on the inside and/or outside edges of the wheels!! You can just move them about like that - well, not if you want to preserve the correct balance. It's very easy to do a simple 'static' balance - just loosen off a front brake and then let the wheel swing free - and then you can put the weights on the inside edge if you wish - but that is only a static balance - not dynamic - however it's good enough for my Minor up to (and beyond) the national speed limit!

just to ask, what is the best paint to use for the original colour? and do you know where i could get it? original cream colour that is? thanks..

Its old English White, I believe. Any decent paint factors should be able to mix up a few aerosols.
