When you change the polarity you usually turn the battery round so that the terminals are at the front near the strap that holds the battery in. I don't like this arrangement so I've changed the connections and left the battery the original way round.
To be honest I'm not sure if I like it any better!! I think I might put a clip or two on the red cable to support it.

Might be worth looking at Lincon batteries - long established manufacturers - they make batteries both ways round - and in black rubber cases with individual caps - perfect for the Morris Minor! I have one on my car, it has given very good service, and must be about 4 - 5 yrs old now! http://www.lincon.co.uk
