streeeeeetching a morris????????

hi all new on here been a member of the owners club since 1998 ,got a soft top and 4 door but need a new prodject,so I thought off stetching one by a few feet.I've seen pictures and a film with one I was wondering has anyone any knoledge of one been done,welcome any feedback on this.I'm in the trade have been for 38 years,worked on morrises as an apprentice in the 60's,Ilive in south west Wales no regular meetings take place this far down i'm west of carmarthen towards tenby..thanks...glyn membership no is47931 my grandson is also family member so h's been trained early

There was one in a pretty sorry state on eBay a few months ago - it was sagging in the middle.

i've seen it done with a traveller but not a saloon

yea i seen the traveller in minor matters,ther's a stretch car in the film ..the borrowers..i'd say it'll need a seperate stell chassis to support it thats my plan to start half hard top and rear end soft top.Ive done a few 2 4 doors and my convertible ,how do i put pics on here...regards glyn

There's one in Peter Jackson's Meet the Feebles too.

The Meet the Feebles car is rumoured to still be around somewhere near Wellington,NZ. From What I heard about it, it was not a nice thing to drive.

thanx for the replys i'm goin to make it drivable,i've driven stretch limos i do a bit of chaufering weekend they are pigs to drive I'll see what else comes in,in the meantime i'll try and get some pics up...regards glyn

Problem is, if you stretch it too far it looks rubbish (in my opinion!) When I stretched the truck I was very concerned about it looking too ungainly, so I only ended up stretching it by 5" and then changing the pickup bed to keep the proportions right with the extra doors.

Isn't there a stretched Limo in the states? Guy called Randolf?

don't wanna go to mad with it got a 24v cossie engine to go in which i'm twin turboin at the moment,thats me plan,but i want to get the framework right and planned out...regards taffy

there is a stretched traveller in our club in eastbourne, it is stretched by the size of a panel ( ie door width)

Wasn't the car in the Borrowers a Morris Oxford? - the only non Minor inthe film I think... Theres a really long Minor about, it was on ebay some time back. Looked a bit long for its own good in my opinion!
think I read somewhere that the Randolf limo (convertible at the back - looked quite smart on wire wheels) had changed hands and was now in Norway. May be wrong. There was an article in Minor Monthly about it.

That is how I feel about the current trend for the US stretch limo's - horrible.
If you look at a quality (UK) stretch of even a big Jag, Merc, etc for the funeral trade then the stretch is just , say, 3-4 feet.
Convert that to a Minor and, in my personal opinion, anything over 24" isn't going to look right.
What would be perfect is 2 door front with rear doors increased by a similar amount - say 12-15 stretch.

Any stretching is also going to mean an automatic SVA test required.

Per DVLA web site -
"---- modified chassis or altered monocoque bodyshell is used, an enhanced single vehicle approval (ESVA), single vehicle approval (SVA) or motorcycle single vehicle approval (MSVA) certificate will be required to register the vehicle. A 'Q' prefix registration number will be allocated."

I have been told by VOSA That my trav will only require a standard M.O.T.

not nalways a q,plate if like the kit cars we'll have to cross that bridge whenthe time comes,i,ve stretched lorries and that entails hgv inspection no sva for these i'll let u all know..glyn
