Rust

Ive just got a 1961 saloon and i'm a bit concerned with the level of rust ive found after stripping the interior out. All inner arches have gone and you can see inside front and rear. Passenger floor is rotted through and i haven't even got it on ramps to look underneath yet.
Is this usual and can it be welded fairly easily?
Engine runs well which is good news at least!
Any info would be helpful as this is my first car and i love it already!

All the panels are available new from quite a few different suppliers, I'm in west mids too if you wnt me to have a look for you.
