Van wood plates

Post by FrankM83 »

Hi all,
I've ordered a pair of wood plates that fit into the back of the B posts on Vans, from ESM unfortuntly these turned out to be very much out of fit! Has anyone bought these from someone else and been a perfect fit? also how important are these that they fit well in place? cause I never understood their purpose Thanks

they are there to cover the gap, so the rubber strip joining the cab to the rear is also a good fit.
so the outside contour needs to fit sensibly, and in line with the back of the b post.
never ordered any from any where , never had the need to take them out i guess

The fit is quite important as already suggested; needs to be flush with the b post, and chamfered on 3 edges to match the post recess. Not suprised about the fit, took me a while to make a set, and I can just imagine someone sitting down to carve them to fit (not). It will more than likely be 'that'll do, next'. Suprisingly they are made from oak.

Thanks for the help, what I dont get is how many should there be? As on my 53 Van there seems to have been 4 though they nearly all disintegrated but on the 70 Van there where 2! and in perfect condition these were the top one, also the bottom fillets had no holes for screws or anything?
