HI, I put these in my salloon, placed in the centre of parcel shelf and going out to clip in by the edge of the seat(if you know what i mean). The parcel shelf itself is very thick steel (have a look from the boot)under the lining but I used some flat ally bar as well just to be sure, also used the bar for bolts that went through the floor. Hope that helps.

I'm just doing that job myself now. I'm cutting slots in the parcel shelf so the seatbelts pass through with the inertia reel out of sight bolted to the bulkhead behind the seat. the belt is protected from the 'sharp' slot by plastic insets found in the same position on a Mk3 Polo (91-94). Slots might sound a bit drastic but the parcel shelf would need holes drilling anyway to fit the reels and I'm not sure that reels would do the hood any favours when it is folded.
Older and more confused than I could ever imagine possible.

If you put the reels on the outside (accepted wisdom) then they can't go that close to the side of the car, and therefore cut too close to the neck. To fit them in a good position you would need to grind the mounting plate - NOT a good idea. Therefore the centre mounting position is a better idea - in fact, I've literally just swapped mine this afternoon.
Also, not ethat the manufacturer (Securon) quote the model number 254. However, for many people this belt is too short, and too tight for people to wear. Their model 264 is about 20 inches longer and a much better option. Available ffrom many traders, but be sure to insist on the longer belt.
